When Grace Sings is a book by Kim Vogel Sawyer. I enjoy stories about Amish and Mennonite families. This was no exception. The book takes you on a journey through four different points of view.
The first thing that did disappoint me though was the fact that this was a second in a trilogy. I received this book to review and no where, but the back cover did it indicate this. If I had known this was the case I probably would not have chosen this book to review. That said, other reviewers have said you must read the first book to know what is going on. To that, I disagree. I have not read the first book, but the author does a good job at making sure you understand what is going on. I would like to go back and read the first one, but I don't believe it is a necessity.
On to the characters, the two main women, were wonderful. I felt like I could relate to them and feel their pain. The men however I wanted to reach through the book and smack them. They were selfish and self-centered. However, by the end of the book I did like them, so they grew on me.
One of my complaints is a small side character. Living in Colorado, this is my complaint. The side characters were vegan and vegetarians and as an explanation for this she said the characters were from north eastern Colorado. I'm assuming she meant some place like Boulder, but when I think of north eastern Colorado, I think of all the farms out on the plains. I can guarantee you they are anything but vegans.
All in all I did enjoy the book. I give it 4 out of five stars.
I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.
